Vocational Skills Needs Assessment

In 2023, UNESCO commissioned several studies to review the current situation of formal and non-formal TVET, which showed that current vocational training programs are not fully corresponding to the labor market needs in Afghanistan. Following a key recommendation from UNESCO’s studies, this vocational skills needs assessment commenced with the following key objectives:

  1. To identify current and future vocational skills needs in different labor markets of Afghanistan;
  2. To assess vocational skills demand and interest areas among different demographics, including through a gender lens; and 
  3. To explore possibilities for skills development interventions through partnership with the private sectors.
