UNESCO participates in a seminar for more accessible digital connectivity
The Director and Representative of UNESCO in Brazil, Marlova Noleto, participated in the opening of the seminar "Meaningful connectivity: a new challenge for Brazil", promoted by the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) and Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) in Brasilia this Tuesday, 25 April 2023. The event discussed the challenges for most of the population in the country to have access to quality internet and digital skills.
May we can together address these challenges and look at the significant connectivity and the challenge that this represents for Brazil. We are committed to expanding access, expanding digital inclusion, so that all recipients of public policies, which are Brazilian citizens, are guaranteed full access to citizenship.
The seminar held at ANATEL's headquarters in BrasÃlia (Brazil) intended to promote the exchange of experiences and engage decision-makers, federal and state government technicians, specialized agencies, and civil society to achieve a harmonized understanding of the concept of Meaningful Connectivity for Brazil. In addition to the Director of UNESCO in Brazil, the opening event was attended by the Minister of Communications, Juscelino Filho; the president of ANATEL, Carlos Baigorri; the IADB Representative, Morgan Doyle, among other authorities.
