UNESCO handbook "Journalism, 'Fake News' and Disinformation" available in all local languages of South East Europe and Turkey
The UNESCO publication "Journalism, Fake News and Disinformation: Handbook for Journalism Education and Training" has been available for journalism educators, editors and journalists, and the broader public of South East Europe and Turkey, with the translation into Bosnian, Albanian, Turkish, and Macedonian language.
Written by experts in the fight against disinformation, this handbook explores the very nature of journalism with modules on why trust matters; thinking critically about how digital technology and social platforms are conduits of the information disorder; fighting back against disinformation and misinformation through media and information literacy; fact-checking 101; social media verification and combatting online abuse.
The translated versions of the handbook are available online for everyone to access and they represent a valuable resource for anyone interested in understanding how information is shared and used in today's world and exploring the developments and factors that have transformed journalism. Moreover, thanks to the UNESCO EU-funded project "," the translations have been printed and distributed among the local media communities in the region. In Albania, 1500 copies were made available, and in North Macedonia, 200 copies.
