UNESCO Director-General meets His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II

On 21 August, UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, met with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, along with His Excellency Mr. Nasser Judeh, Foreign Minister of Jordan.

The meetings took place in the framework of the, hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in Amman.

The Crown Prince welcomed the Director-General to Amman and thanked her for her presence at the Global Forum.

The Director-General thanked the Crown Prince for his global leadership on youth in peacebuilding, most especially in the groundbreaking speech before the UN Security Council in April. This reflects, she said, the long-standing engagement of Jordan for peace in the region and globally as a country of tolerance, diversity and dialogue.

Discussion followed on developments across the region and the importance of the youth voice for finding political solutions to rising challenges. In this context, the Director-General spoke to the Crown Prince about the forthcoming UNESCO 91麻豆国产精品自拍 as a global platform for youth voices to advance sustainable development and lasting peace.

The importance of UNESCO's role safeguarding cultural heritage was also discussed, in Jordan and across the region, as part of the common heritage of all humanity.
