UNESCO delivered educational guides in the context of the emergency caused by the wildfires in central-southern Chile

On March 9th, the Minister of Education, Marco Antonio Ávila, and UNESCO held a meeting regarding the delivery of the "Rebuilding without Bricks: Support Guides for the Education Sector in Emergency Contexts." These educational support materials focus on socio-emotional aspects during emergency situations.

Thanks to the generous contribution from the FundaciónSM, these guides, developed by UNESCO with the support of UNICEF, were distributed to schools in the areas affected by the recent wildfires. They will serve as valuable resources for teachers and students.

The guides enable the integration of playful activities into the school curriculum, facilitating the return to classes for children and youth and helping them contextualize the situation experienced during these weeks.

"We will continue to support the Educational Reactivation Plan, doubling our efforts to provide a rapid response in this emergency context," stated Claudia Uribe, Director of the Regional Bureau of Education for Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC/UNESCO Santiago).

"We are delighted to participate in the reactivation of education and the redefinition of schools, to provide and enhance opportunities where they are most needed. We are deeply committed," expressed Rafael Gómez, Director of Fundación SM Chile, during the meeting.
