UNESCO and UNICEF Statement on Lukavac Primary School Shooting
Sarajevo, 14 June 2023 - UNESCO and UNICEF are deeply saddened by the shooting at the Lukavac Primary School today. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to those injured in the attack. School should be a place of hope, optimism, safety and preparation for a better world. It is no place for violence.

The public and the media are urged to refrain from speculating about motives, posting or forwarding images and videos related to this violent incident, as this may further negatively impact children and their families.
We stand ready to work with the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina to ensure that schools are places where children feel safe and supported.
