Tashkent hosted the International Forum dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Sara Noshadi, UNESCO Representative in Uzbekistan, took part in the International forum "The role of women in science, technology and in the and in the sustainable development of innovation in society". The forum was organized by the state committee of family and woman of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in the framework of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated on 11 February.
鈥淯NESCO is committed to supporting Uzbekistan in breaking down the barriers that women face and promoting gender equality in STEM Education. UNESCO also seeks to break down stereotypes, by raising awareness of women scientists who are blazing new trails. Through our 25-year partnership with the L鈥橭r茅al Foundation, we have honoured over 120 exceptional women scientists from around the world, five of whom have also received the Nobel Prize. As role models, they are examples for young women to follow 鈥 underlining that they too can achieve excellence. I encourage all of you to apply for this Award鈥 said Sara Noshadi in her speech.
