SEVENTEEN, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Youth illuminated Empire State Building in Colors of Youth Support
The exterior lighting of the Empire State Building turned on with Rose Quartz and Serenity, SEVENTEEN 's symbolic colors. It was an event commemorating SEVENTEEN’s world tour ‘SEVENTEEN [RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR’ held in major cities in North America, including New York. SEVENTEEN members Joshua, Mingyu, Dokyeom, Vernon, and Dino attended the lighting ceremony.
We sincerely hope that our dedication to supporting the bright futures of young people around the globe resonates with even more individuals through this event.
I am so excited to see the Empire State Building light up in SEVENTEEN’s official color, Rose Quartz and Serenity. I hope everyone, including our beloved CARATs, enjoys today’s lighting event.
The occasion marked a significant milestone in SEVENTEEN’s ambassadorship with UNESCO, which appointed the group as its first Goodwill Ambassador for Youth in June 2024.
As they sing in their song Shining Diamond, ‘Slip into the diamond life’. Their journey and talent inspire millions of young people—millions of Carats—to believe in themselves and their ability to shine and grow, just like diamonds. We are thrilled that SEVENTEEN joined UNESCO as Goodwill Ambassador for Youth in June 2024. This appointment reflects their deep commitment to social impact and the well-being of young people around the world.
Now, more than ever, we must act with youth, ensuring that their actions shape a brighter, more inclusive future.
SEVENTEEN’s Ongoing Commitment to Youth Growth
SEVENTEEN, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Youth, continue to amplify the organization’s mission to foster youth empowerment and inclusion, encouraging young people to contribute to building a brighter future for all. On 12 August 2024, International Youth Day, UNESCO and SEVENTEEN launched the “Going Together – For Youth Creativity and Well-Being” Global Youth Grant Scheme. Supported by a 1 million USD donation from SEVENTEEN, the initiative will fund 100 youth-led projects worldwide, focused on social impact, confidence-building, community creation, and supporting youth mental health, arts, and sport.
The 100 grantees will be announced in mid-November 2024. Alongside the grants, recipients will receive capacity-building and mentoring to help bring their impactful projects to fruition.
