Russian Language Day
The Russian Language Day, as set out in the decision of the UN Department of Public Information (2010), is celebrated on June, 6th - the birthday of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
The opening ceremony to be followed by a concert and film screening will demonstrate the role that the Russian language plays in strengthening interethnic communication and intercultural dialogue, as well as promoting UNESCO efforts in the sphere of multilingualism and within the International Decade of Indigenous Languages.
Organized by the Permanent Delegations of the Russian Federation, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
