Following the firefighting training organized last year on 7 December 2020 for local communities and site management at the World Heritage site in Uganda, the Ugandan Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities Department of Museums and Monuments organized a refresher course for around 40 participants on 9 November 2021, which was led by the site management authorities. The course covered the following topics:

• Quick response to fire out-break at the site;
• Training youth and women living on site how to use the fire hose reel as a team;
• Connecting the hose reel to the generator;
• Emergency fire exits;
• Rescuing items.

The refresher course, which included the participation of 23 youth and 15 women, was part of an ongoing UNESCO Heritage Emergency Fund () project for “ for the World Heritage property of the Tombs of Buganda Kings at Kasubi, Uganda” following a fire that broke out on 5 June 2020. The project also supported the development and finalization of a disaster risk management plan for the site, and aims to contribute some of the essential equipment required for a comprehensive firefighting system at the site.
