Preciosidades Itabiranas platform promotes the cultural diversity of Itabira (Brazil) in an interactive and effective way
The 22nd Drummondiana Week opened this Thursday (26), at the Carlos Drummond de Andrade Memorial, with emphasis on the presentation of the Affective Patrimonial Map program, supported by the Preciosidades Itabiranas platform (Itabiranas preciousness). The initiative is the result of an international technical cooperation project between the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Instituto Vale Cultural, implemented in partnership with the Carlos Drummond de Andrade Foundation (FCCDA).
The Affective Heritage Map is a digital repository that invites the user to discover the cultural diversity of Itabira (Minas Gerais, Brazil) and the different meanings, affections, and values of local groups. The Preciosidades Itabiranas platform places the people of Itabira as protagonists to identify and document their own cultural references. The survey, organization, and generation of information about celebrations, knowledge, places, and objects of affection were developed with the participation of the local community.
With easy language, the content allows the comprehension of the historical context of Itabira from a new perspective beyond the official historical narrative. The materials are presented in the format of texts, photos, audio, and drawings, also consolidating themselves as a support tool for history and geography classes and for teaching heritage education.
The partnership between UNESCO and the Instituto Vale Cultural, together with the City of Itabira, made it possible to carry out important actions to promote cultural tourism and the creative economy in the city, including the Affective Patrimonial Map, a product that stimulates the feeling of belonging of the population and contributes to the development of heritage education in schools
The first territory covered by the project was the Morro Santo Ant么nio Quilombola Remaining Community, which, after collecting and systematizing the information and data on its cultural references, selected what would be disseminated on the platform and has been organizing itself for the development of related projects that could also collaborate to safeguard their cultural assets.
Among the projects listed, the strengthening of artisanal tapestry is considered a cultural reference of the Quilombola community. The rugs produced by residents will be sold with labels containing QR Codes that will lead to the Preciosidades Itabiranas platform, allowing the buyer of the piece to learn more about the rug, the tapestry makers, the production process, and the importance of the tapestry in the context of this community. The expectation is that new territories will be covered by the project and that the platform will be made available for access by the public.
Stimulating the creative economy is an important part of the movement to reinvent Itabira, which seeks sustainability and new paths for when mining ends. This goes directly through the involvement of communities. The Affective Map brings this relationship, which is very beautiful, a collective construction, which makes everything more reliable and important
The technical cooperation project to promote the creative economy and culture in Itabira was signed between UNESCO and the Instituto Vale Cultural in partnership with the City Hall of Itabira. The objective of the project was to think about new socioeconomic development alternatives for the city, due to the end of mineral exploration in the municipality scheduled for 2028. The proposal seeks to value the historical, cultural, and natural heritage and support sustainable territorial development based on the economy creative.
In addition to the Preciosidades Itabiranas platform, the project also includes the Rota Audioguiada dos Caminhos Drummondianos (Audio Guide of Drummonds Paths), an application that is designed to guide tourists through the Territ贸rio Museum with poems by Carlos Drummond de Andrade spread throughout the city. The two initiatives were developed after the conclusion of propositional studies carried out in the municipality, with popular participation.
