Pacific Biosphere Reserve Network meet to discuss their role in sustainable development
Established in December 2006, the Pacific Biosphere Reserve Network (PacMAB) comprises the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Tonga. The network serves as a vehicle for exchange and cooperation among new and emerging biosphere reserves and national focal points of the Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB) in the Pacific.
For the fourth time, representatives, mangers and researchers of the PacMAB network will meet from 23 to 25 April 2014 in Nadi, Fidji, to discuss the role of biosphere reserves in sustainable development in the Pacific.
The objective of the meeting is to assess the progress, accomplishment and key challenges of Madrid Action Plan (MAP) in the Pacific biosphere reserve as well as identify the follow up for post MAP actions. During the meeting, participant will also seek new ways to actively engage with the current biosphere reserves whilst working to increase the number of reserves in the Pacific.
