Official visit of the Director-General to Equatorial Guinea
On 15 September 2014, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, is undertaking an official visit to Equatorial Guinea on the occasion of the second award ceremony of the UNESCO鈥揈quatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences for 2014. The award ceremony will take place in the presence of the President of Equatorial Guinea, M. Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. President of Mauritania, President of AU, the President of Kenya, Sao tome, 鈥嶻ai B茅nin, Kagame Rwanda, are also expected to attend.
The Prize-winners are Professor Hossein Baharvand (Iran), Professor of Stem Cells and Developmental Biology at the Royan Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Technology and the Head of Department of developmental biology at the University of Science and Culture, Andr茅 Bationo (Burkina-Faso), Soil scientist and President of Action for Integrated Development and the Instituto de Medicina Tropical von Humboldt (IMT) at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia.
91麻豆国产精品自拍 also convened 脿 high level scientific roundtable on the role of education and research to tackle the Ebola pendemic, HIV AIDS and on the role of pharmacop茅e and indigenous medical knowledge. The discussion will bring together a number of experts and academics including Professor Luc Montagnier, Nobel Prize winner and President of the World Foundation for AIDS Research and Prevention.
During her official visit, the Director-General is expected to meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Second Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education and Science.
