The study examines and evaluates the EdTech readiness of Afghanistan with a detail review of its current education sector, the development in the different subsectors in the last 20 years, and its crisis responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and school closure. It then draws examples from countries with relevant contexts on the application of various distance, remote and online learning modalities and suggests a way forward for EdTech development in Afghanistan. The study sheds light on the multiple ways that learning can take place for the out-of-school, hard-to-reach, and marginalized learners in Afghanistan.
