In 2011, the course was updated for the first time. To date the IWRM course is introduced and being successfully taught at five universities of Kazakhstan; moreover, a number of other universities throughout Kazakhstan, as well as Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan use the course materials in their educational activities.
In recent years there have been significant changes in the field of water resources management. With the support of UNESCO Almaty Office, CSD center has successfully prepared an updated IWRM course, based on the latest materials. The presentations were improved; the course was enriched with new case studies and practical tasks.
The updated IWRM course will help young specialists to obtain management skills in the field of water use and protection, as well as will contribute to capacity building enabling them to address water issues in decision-making process. Understanding of future specialists the main causes of problems in water sector will help countries to make a general vision of their solutions and the measures of their implementation.
