The project aims to contribute to addressing the urgent educational needs of vulnerable girls and women who are affected by the humanitarian crisis and the restrictions on their access to education in Afghanistan.

The project will build on UNESCO's operational capacity and experience in delivering successful radio-based learning programmes in Afghanistan and other countries, and will develop and broadcast interactive and engaging radio lessons on basic reading and writing, numeracy, life skills, and secondary school subjects.

The project will contribute to advancing the SDG 4 in Afghanistan, in particular target 4.5, to eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of education and life skills for the vulnerable.

UNESCO expresses its gratitude to the Government of Japan for its continuous support and partnership in promoting access to education in Afghanistan.
