Jane Goodall at UNESCO for a "Speech for History"
Globally recognized as an ethologist for her work with chimpanzees, an icon of animal protection, and a leading environmental activist, Jane Goodall, at 90 years old, will deliver a message of peace, respect, and hope at UNESCO, following in the footsteps of figures such as Nelson Mandela, Pope John Paul II, and Claude L茅vi-Strauss.
In 1977, she founded the Jane Goodall Institute, a global conservation organization. By protecting chimpanzees, African wildlife, and forests, while encouraging the preservation of the natural world we share, the Institute contributes to improving the lives of humans, other animals, and the environment.
UNESCO鈥檚 recognition of this exceptional woman, her commitment, and the actions of the Jane Goodall Institute reflects more than 60 years of efforts in support of peace, striving for a more empathetic and respectful world towards all living beings.
Additionally, from September 21, the International Day of Peace, to October 20, 2024, the day after Jane Goodall鈥檚 lecture at UNESCO, a photo exhibition on her life and the work of the Jane Goodall Institute will be displayed on the gates of UNESCO Headquarters.
