Irina Bokova on Official Visit to Slovenia
From 7 to 9 April 2013, UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, is on her first official visit to Slovenia, on the occasion of the annual Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Culture of South-Eastern Europe (CoMoCoSEE), held in Brdo.
The Director-General is expected to meet with the President of Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karl Viktor Erjavec, the Minister of Culture, Uro拧 Grilc and the Minister of Education, Science and Sport, Jernej Pikalo.
The Director-General will open the Ministerial Meeting alongside the European Commissioner, Androulla Vassiliou and the Director-General of the Council of Europe Directorate for Democracy, Snezana Samardzic-Markovic.
The purpose of the Meeting of the Council of Ministers is to foster and harmonize cultural cooperation in the region through the establishment of a new unified ministerial platform on culture and development.
On the occasion of this Meeting, the Director-General, the Minister of Culture of Slovenia, Uro拧 Grilc and the President of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), Hans-Martin Hinz, will inaugurate the travelling exhibit .
While in Slovenia, the Director-General will also open an exhibition on 鈥淐odex Suprasliensis鈥 in the National and University Library. is a documentary heritage inscribed in the Memory of the World Register in 2007 as a joint submission of Poland, Russian Federation and Slovenia.
The Director-General will visit , a UNESCO World Heritage site inscribed on the List in 1986, and the Jo啪ef Stefan Institute, Slovenia's top research facility.
