Information meeting on the Jubilee celebration of International Mother Language Day 2025
An information meeting on the Jubilee of International Mother Language Day in room IV (Fontenoy building), from 3 to 4 p.m., on Thursday, 16 January 2025.
The Jubilee will be held on 20 and 21 February 2025 at UNESCO Headquarters. It follows the UNESCO Executive Board decision 219 EX/38 which recognizes UNESCO’s leading role in celebrating the International Mother Language Day and requests the Director-General to undertake commemorative events.
The event will be organized over two days with technical dialogues on 20 February and a high-level segment on 21 February. It will be an opportunity to mobilize greater political ambition, commitment, and action to further promote linguistic diversity and multilingualism in the context of SDGs and to better prepare our societies for the future.
