The 10th World Water Forum: A key milestone

The 10th World Water Forum marked a remarkable milestone in the Multi-Stakeholder Coalition's action roadmap to 2030. It provided an invaluable opportunity for visibility and recognition of the Coalition's efforts toward achieving gender equality in the water domain. This action falls within the framework of the broader “Call for Action Initiative for Accelerating Gender Equality in Water”, aiming at realizing impactful and long-term change.

Launch of the Multi-stakeholder Coalition's Digital Platform: Our community of practice online platform

On May 23, 2024, the Multi-stakeholder Coalition proudly launched the digital platform during the session “Global Cooperation for Accelerating Inclusion and Equality in Water - Launch of the Online Multi-Stakeholder Coalition Platform”. The platform, forming a new online Community of Practice, has been developed with the generous financial support of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.

The platform serves as a hub for the Coalition's community of practice and has been designed to facilitate knowledge exchange on water and gender initiatives and actions among members and supporters. It aims to enhance collaboration, maximize synergies, and promote the sharing of best practices and resources.

Showcasing achievements and expanding horizons

Prior to the platform's launch, another important session took place on 21 May 2024: “Fostering Cooperation and Partnership for Water and Gender - Expanding the Multi-Stakeholder Coalition to Accelerate Gender Equality in the Water Domain in Asia Pacific”. The session served as an opportunity to showcase the Coalition's key achievements, and update stakeholders on the progress made so far on the implementation of voluntary commitments, pledged by multiple Coalition members during the 2023 UN Water Conference in New York.

This session highlighted concrete projects by members in various global regions, with a particular focus on the Asia Pacific region. The enthusiastic participation of members demonstrated the Coalition's reach, important potential for synergies and tangible impact on the ground.

A collaborative effort

The Multi-stakeholder Coalition is comprised by 24 Member States and 160 individual members in representation of 87 Institutions: government institutions, regional organizations, UN agencies, financing institutions, NGOs, academia, private sector and individual experts and advocates. Officially endorsed by 24 Member States, the Coalition is dedicated to advancing gender equality and inclusion within the water sector.
