In the aftermath of the Holocaust, secret meetings began to negotiate what was then still unimaginable – compensation for survivors of the Nazi genocide, which had cost the lives of six million Jews. Survivors were in urgent need of support, but how could the nature of reparations be determined for the unprecedented destruction and suffering of a people? “Reckonings” explores this riveting, untold story. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion.

In presence of:

  • Colette Avital, Chairperson, Center of Organizations of Holocaust Survivors in Israel
  • Roberta Grossman, Film director
  • Serge Klarsfeld, UNESCO Honorary Ambassador and Special Envoy for Education about the Holocaust and the Prevention of Genocide
  • Haim Assaraf, Israel’s Ambassador to Multilateral Organizations
  • Axel Küchle, Deputy-Permanent Delegate, Permanent Delegation of Germany to UNESCO
  • Gregory Schneider, Executive Vice-President of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany
  • Anna Maria Gerits, Director, Division for Compensation Policy for National Socialist Injustice, German Federal Ministry of Finance
