Director-General deplores death of Abdul Rahman Ismael Yassin in Syria

The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, has denounced the killing of Syrian journalist Abdul Rahman Ismael Yassin in Eastern Ghouta (Syria) on 20 February.

鈥淚 deplore the death of Abdul Rahman Ismael Yassin,鈥 the Director-General said. 鈥淚 call on all parties to mobilize in order to guarantee the safety of reporters and enable them to carry out their mission without fearing for their lives.鈥

Abdul Rahman Ismael Yassin was a reporter for the Hammouriyeh Media Centre. He was seriously injured by shrapnel during a bomb attack while preparing a report on the effects of the airstrikes on the city of Hammouriyeh and died from his wounds.
