Director-General condemns killing of news photographer Mohamed Ben Khalifa in Libya

The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, has denounced the killing of Mohamed Ben Khalifa, a prominent news photographer and video journalist, in Tripoli, Libya.

鈥淚 condemn the killing of Mohamed Ben Khalifa,鈥 said the Director-General. 鈥淚 call on all those involved in the armed conflict in Libya to respect the Geneva Conventions recognizing the civilian status of journalists.鈥

Mohamed Ben Khalifa, a distinguished photo and video journalist who worked for several international news outlets, was killed while covering clashes between armed militia on 19 January.
