Director-General attends Appeal of Conscience 50th Anniversary
On 24 September, Irina Bokova participated in the 50th anniversary celebration of the Appeal of Conscience Foundation, founded and presided by Rabbi Arthur Schneier, in New York.
This event marked 50 years of work to promote mutual understanding and respect between people of different cultures and religions鈥, for greater tolerance, respect and dialogue for peace, across the world.
The event was held in honour also the Right Honourable David Cameron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, who was presented the Appeal of Conscience World Statesman Award, received by Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the UN, HE Matthew 鈥 Rycroft -- as well as Laurence Fink, CEO of BlackRock, and Alex Gorsky, CEO of Johnson and Johnson, both presented the Appeal of Conscience Award.
The event brought together leaders and representatives of major reli鈥巊ions from across the world, in the spirit of respect and mutual understanding.
