UNESCO is working to strengthen the scientific knowledge base to help countries manage their water resources sustainably. With this in mind, UNESCO, in partnership with the Republic of Korea, responded favourably to the Gabonese government's request to provide technical and financial support to the Ministry of Energy and Hydraulic Resources. The aim was to implement an ambitious project to propose solutions for climate resilience in the Nzémé basin. This is the main basin where raw water is collected, and it was essential to guarantee a minimum operating flow for the production of drinking water at the Ntoum town treatment plant, during low-water and high-water periods.

This report covers the development of climate scenarios and the impact analysis at Ntoum. It is the fruit of the joint efforts of UNESCO, the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Energy and Hydraulic Resources, through the Directorate General for Water. It has also benefited from the support of a number of partners: the Presidency of the Gabonese Republic, the Ministry of Transport, the Ntoum town council and the Société d'énergie et d'eau du Gabon, which have provided numerous documents relevant to this project.
