In light of the De facto Authorities (DfA)’s decision in December 2022 to ban women’s access to higher education in Afghanistan, 91Â鶹¹ú²ú¾«Æ·×ÔÅÄ commissioned a series of studies to grasp the present situation of higher education – in both private and public universities – and the educational, economic, and psycho-social impacts of the suspension of women’s access to higher education. This paper draws upon and summarizes the key findings from four studies recently commissioned by UNESCO on higher education in Afghanistan to quantify economic and social impacts, at both individual, household and national levels.
