Build Learning Cities to Promote Lifelong Learning

Twelve cities from China has joined the Global Network of Learning Cities (GLCN), marking a significant step towards promoting lifelong learning and sustainable urban development. These cities, including Suzhou, Nanjing, Beijing, and Shanghai, are now part of a global community dedicated to fostering education, equity, and sustainability. By joining the GLCN, these cities are committed to UNESCO鈥檚 vision of providing inclusive and equitable quality education for all, in alignment with SDG 4. This partnership will facilitate the exchange of innovative practices and resources, enhancing each city鈥檚 capacity to tackle educational challenges and promote continuous learning. Learning Cities is a solid platform to promote lifelong learning and skills development in Cities. Nanjing and Suzhou have been the latest cities that have joined the GLNC network. As of mid-2024, a total of 72 cities in East Asia region have joined the GLNC.
