Addressing antisemitism through education: policy actions across Europe
Raising awareness of the dangers of antisemitism is a vital element of teacher training and educational programmes. Schools are often the first point of contact for students vulnerable to antisemitic violence or exposed to and influenced by antisemitic ideation.
Governments and ministries of education can support teachers by introducing and monitoring relevant frameworks and resources on antisemitic prejudice, as it is crucial for teachers to be sufficiently prepared to take reactive or preventative educational measures.
The policy dialogue is an opportunity for Ministry of Education delegates and expert practitioners to share their achievements in the area of critical antisemitism education thus far, with their counterparts and with organizations representing Jewish communities. The exchange seeks to reflect on the successes, identify areas for improvement, and inspire further activities - with particular focus on longer-term, systematic, and sustainable changes in education that address prejudice and ensure the safety and wellbeing of Jewish students.
