Promoting Peace through the Green Movement in Angola

Climate change is directly influenced by anthropogenic actions, therefore it is crucial to unite and to put solutions into practice to solve this urgent challenge. In Angola, there are several organisations and initiatives that give life to the Green Movement and that builds efforts to reduce our ecological footprint on Earth, and at the same time alleviate the pressure over the most vulnerable communities and the wildlife.

Exhibit: African Independence - Norwegian Solidarity

The exhibition will be held at the Memorial Dr. António Agostinho Neto, MAAN. Monday 29, 2 pm.

This exhibition has been developed by the Liliesleaf Trust in partnership with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Pretoria. With a particular focus on the frontline states, the exhibition reflects on Norway’s approachand assistance to de-colonisation and the liberation struggle.

AFRICAN INDEPENDENCE. NORWEGIAN SOLIDARITY.

African Independence. Norwegian Solidarity explores the universality of human rights, the power of international solidarity in the pursuit of securing human rights, the importance of democracy in ensuring the recognition of human rights. The purpose of the exhibition is to reflect on the value of lessons learned from the past when addressing the challenges faced today.

The exhibition comprises of various structures with content on both sides and the seventh structure shares an overview of the liberation history of Angola.

The Security Council: Norway’s priorities

As a member of the UN Security Council, Norway will make use of its 20 years’ experience of peace diplomacy to strengthen the Council’s conflict prevention and resolution efforts.

In addressing country situations on the Council’s agenda, Norway will focus in particular on four thematic areas:

  1. Peace diplomacy
  2. Inclusion of women
  3. Protection of civilians
  4. Climate change and security
