Towards culture as a stand-alone goal

The UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development 鈥 MONDIACULT is a ministerial forum during which 194 Member States of UNESCO work together to set - and commit to - the global agenda for culture. It is organized by UNESCO and hosted by the Government of Spain.

The MONDIACULT 2025 Conference is an opportunity to take stock of the national, regional and international-level achievements following the adoption of the historic MONDIACULT Declaration, which defined a set of cultural rights that must be guaranteed. The momentum has been evident, with the inclusion of culture on the agendas of G20, G7, G77+China and other regional and international fora.

It also follows the Declaration鈥檚 call to establish culture 鈥渁s a specific objective in its own right鈥 in the post-2030 development agenda.
