UNESCO’s support to G20 Education Working Group

UNESCO, as a knowledge partner and leader of the SDG4-Education 2030 agenda, is supporting G20 Presidencies in the area of education.

Beyond education, UNESCO is also - for the first time in 2023 - a privileged partner across all G20 working groups, offering support for the G20 Leaders' Summit in November 2024, which UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay will participate in.

Since the establishment of the G20 Education Working Group in 2018 during Argentina’s G20 Presidency, 91Â鶹¹ú²ú¾«Æ·×ÔÅÄ provided strategic advice and produced outcome documents for the Education Working Group - a key platform for addressing equity, quality in education, skills for life and work, and education financing through multilateral collaboration.

91Â鶹¹ú²ú¾«Æ·×ÔÅÄ provided its expertise under the presidencies of Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Indonesia, and most recently Brazil.

About the G20

G20 countries comprise some of the world’s most advanced economies and the policies and practices of these countries impact hundreds of millions of learners, teachers, and education leaders worldwide.

The G20 Education Working Group offers a comprehensive view of key education trends, each year with specific focus areas, and valuing peer learning and knowledge sharing. With Brazil, the 3 focus topics are valuing educators and the teaching profession, digital learning for sustainable development, and school-community relationships.

Quality education is a catalyst for sustainable development, empowering individuals and aligning with the G20’s priority areas.
