This initiative was part of a joint mission by UNESCO and the Association of Women for Community-Based Nutrition (AFNAC) in the Yangambi Biosphere Reserve from March 11 to 15, 2025.

The mission aimed to identify the specific needs of six Community Savings and Credit Associations (ACECs) to guide income-generating activities and define suitable training programs.

The priorities identified by the ACECs, which consist of 147 members across six villages—BOSUKULU, YASELIA, LILANDA, YAKONDJI, WEKO LIKOLO, and WEKO YATONGA—were maize, rice, peanut cultivation, and pig farming.

To address these crucial needs, capacity-building sessions with clear objectives and a detailed schedule will be organized. These training activities and field preparations will signify a new phase in the region's economic and environmental development.
