Transcultura launches its call for seed capital grants to support cultural entrepreneurship in the Caribbean

The Transcultura programme: Integrating Cuba, the Caribbean and the European Union through Culture and Creativity, implemented by the UNESCO Regional Office in Havana and funded by the European Union, presents its Seed Capital Grant Scheme to support startups and small businesses in the Caribbean Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI).

The grants, each worth US$5,000, are intended to help businesses expand their operations, launch new products or services, or introduce new technologies and innovations into their processes. The main objective is to foster creativity, innovation and sustainable growth within the cultural sector.

Financial support is complemented by personalized mentorship services tailored to the specific needs of the beneficiary entrepreneurs. These services help refine work plans and implementation phases, contributing to the successful completion of the grant process.

Who can apply

  • Creative young entrepreneurs between 18 and 35 years old with a startup or small business active in the Caribbean CCI who are looking to expand their business, launch new products or services, or introduce new technologies and/or innovation into their operations.
  • Citizens and permanent residents of one of these seventeen Caribbean countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Projects with a regional scope that create new opportunities for young people, especially women, while promoting a multiplier effect in the region are encouraged to participate. Proposals should also incorporate a gender equality approach, clearly outlining how gender perspectives will be integrated into the implementation strategy.

The deadline is 7 April 2025 at 11:59 PM Havana time.
