This issue was central to a meeting between the Minister of Professional Training and a UNESCO delegation led by Mr. Isaias Barreto, Head of the Kinshasa Office.

He was accompanied by the Head of the Youth and Skills Development Section and the CapED Program Coordination team from UNESCO Headquarters.

Together with His Excellency Mr. Marc Ekila, the delegation identified key areas where UNESCO can support the TVET sector to improve youth employability.

The discussions, launched by Ms. Gisèle Kendulu, Secretary General for Professional Training, focused on several strategic areas, including:

  • Establishing a National Certification Framework (CNC) to ensure the quality and recognition of professional skills.

  • Digitalizing Professional Training to adapt TVET to the digital landscape and facilitate access to training.

  • Strengthening the Ministry's staff capacities to effectively implement reforms.

  • Promoting an innovative and sustainable approach to TVET that meets labor market needs and fosters economic development.

Training workshops and exchanges with UNESCO experts are planned for the coming days to help design and implement this framework.
This strengthened partnership highlights the commitment of both the DRC and UNESCO to promote quality TVET that is tailored to labor market demands and contributes to the country's economic and social development.
