Project
Restore Mama Earth

In Kenya, the Light On A Hill (LOAH) association has found an original way of encouraging children to conserve, restore and protect the environment. Its Restore Mama Earth project puts them in touch with nature and allows their creativity to run free.
This relationship with the natural environment fosters a sense of responsibility for the conservation, restoration and protection of their ecosystems.
Offered to children aged 5 to 12, the project is organised around a range of activities: gardening, tree nursery development and management, tree/plant cultivation, field trips, and community clean-ups. It encourages children to express their creativity inspired by the environment through artistic activities such as drawing, painting, essay writing, poetry, and upcycling waste into art.
Children champion climate action
This organization of young people was set up in 2020 in regions where agriculture is the main source of income for local communities. The team has seen children progressively assume the role of guardians and champions of climate action in their communities. Thanks to a partnership with a primary school and a church, 350 children have been educated and empowered to become eco-responsible. It has established two green spaces, each hosting a green classroom, a kitchen garden, two greenhouses, and a tree nursery.
Today, the organization's work has an impact on the communities of Kiirua and Timau. It hopes to broaden its scope and acquire its own land to establish a central hub.
