Huawei, UNESCO IITE, UNESCO Iraq and the Ministries of Higher Education in Iraq and Kurdistan discuss educational support during COVID-19

Driven by its commitment to help mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on learning and education in Iraq, Huawei, in partnership with the UNESCO Institute of Information Technology in Education (IITE), UNESCO Iraq Office, and the Ministries of Higher Education in Iraq and Kurdistan, hosted the 鈥淟earning Never Stops鈥 online education summit, which aimed to support Huawei ICT Academy partners and universities to continue offering learning possibilities to students in Iraq.

More than 60 leaders and experts from universities in Iraq were part of the online education summit, as well as academic professionals from China, to share their experiences, best practices and challenges in online education during the COVID-19 pandemic.

鈥淯NESCO is fully committed to supporting the Iraqi government for distance learning, open science, knowledge and culture sharing鈥 said Mr. Paolo Fontani, UNESCO Representative in Iraq.

The summit facilitated resource sharing on feasible solutions to ensure education continuity and online education quality as schools and universities stay closed. It also aimed at empowering and enabling Iraqi youth.
