Black Girls Code
Since its inception in 2011, Black Girls Code (BGC) has been dedicated to empowering girls of colour through coding education and broader technological engagement. The organization collaborates with schools and partner institutions to deliver an extensive array of in-person and virtual programmes tailored to young learners aged 7 to 25.
BGC’s initiatives go beyond technical training to build self-confidence, community connections, and professional pathways. Its Code Clubs offer after-school and out-of-school opportunities for Black girls and gender-nonconforming youth in grades K-12 to explore coding while cultivating leadership skills. Additionally, BGC provides multi-week courses, workshops, and training events to expand participants’ technical expertise. The organization further strengthens community bonds through day camps, hackathons, and alumnae activities that encourage networking and career development. The BGC Member Portal supports young women over 18 by providing access to career opportunities, advanced training, and mentorship.
