IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE)
IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is a global network dedicated to advancing gender equality and fostering inclusive scientific communities. By promoting women engineers and scientists, WIE inspires girls worldwide to pursue careers in STEM. WIE's global network, which has over 50K members and 1,100 Affinity Groups in more than 127 countries, hosts events such as leadership conferences, skill development workshops, and career seminars.
Key initiatives include the IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Programme, which encourages girls to pursue STEM careers through mentorship and outreach. WIE also provides grants and scholarships at various educational levels. The IEEE WIE Manga Story Contest aims to bridge the gender gap in STEM by motivating young girls to pursue STEM early on. Additionally, WIE publishes an award-winning magazine that highlights the strides women make and key mentorship projects in STEM around the world. Through these efforts, WIE aligns with UNESCO's mission to promote gender equality and inclusive scientific communities globally.
