UNESCO Visit to the Red Sea State, Sudan

On 18-19 February 2018, the UNESCO Representative to Sudan, H.E. Mr. Pavel Kroupkine, together with the representatives from the Sudanese Federal Ministry of Information, Dr. Somia Alhadi, and National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, Dr. Abdelmahmud Elnour, visited Port Sudan. The visit took place in frameworks of the project for Strengthening Rural Radio Broadcasting in the East of Sudan, .

During his stay in Port Sudan, the UNESCO Representative met the Minster of Social Affairs, Culture and Information, H.E. Ms. Fatima Mustafa Al-Khalifa, and the Governor of the Red Sea State, H.E. Mr. Ali Ahmed Hamid. The UNESCO’s was honored by the Vice Governor of the Red Sea State, H.E. Major General Mustafa Mohamed Nour, Speaker of the State Legislative Council, H.E. Mr. Omar Oshiek, Minster of Social Affairs, Culture and Information, H.E. Ms. Fatima Mustafa Al-Khalifa, Minister of Industry and Investment, H.E. Mr. Mohammed Hassan Tahir, Minister of Education, H.E. Mr. Awad Allah Ibrahim, Director General of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Khalid Abdel Monim, Director General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Mr. Osama Sir Alkhatim, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Ms. Samia Oshiek, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abass Sir Alkhatim, Director of the Red Sea State Radio and Television, Mr. Muzamel Suleiman Hamad, Secretary General of the Women's Union – Red Sea State, Ms. Mariam Hamad, Governor of Tokar Locality, Mr. Khalid Abdel Monim, Governors at the State Headquarter Mr. Gaffer Imam Eldin and Mr. Hamid Mohamed Adam, and other distinguished Red Sea’s officials and citizens. Mr. Pavel Kroupkine also visited the Office of Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

The Red Sea’s authorities
Recognized the activities of the Project for Strengthening Rural Radio Broadcasting in the East of Sudan, highly appreciating the efforts of UNESCO and Italian Agency of Development Cooperation in contributing to the state
Informed about their decision to increase the rural broadcasting from 60 min per day to 120 min per day
During his stay in Port Sudan, the UNESCO Representative participated in 1 hours live TV programme explaining the Project and the Community Radio Day in Port Sudan.
