A city in the current-day Republic of Benin, Abomey was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Danhom猫 (Dahomey). This city, famous for its many palaces that cover 44 hectars, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1985. Abomey is a significant historical, cultural and tourist site. Important work for the safeguard and valorization of the buildings and collections has been taking place ever since 1992.
